About Hannah

I didn't start out as a grammar nerd. I got off to a pretty slow start in the reading arena and struggled to pull each word off the page until third or fourth grade when it finally clicked. That year (and every year after), I finally made it to the Accelerated Reading celebration my school hosted, thus fueling my early love of reading with pizza-party bribes.

It wasn't until middle school that I really started branching out and discovering my reading niche. Orson Scott Card, Tamora Pierce, and Piers Anthony were the writers to read, and I devoured their books (which include a lot more adult content than I picked up on at the time).

As I grew up, I never stopped reading, but I did get pickier about what I would peruse. I started to notice missing words and commas in books and became bothered when an author refused to abandon safe and over-used adjectives like good or bad to describe something that could have been flushed out with detail and depth.

I took what I learned from great books to help my own writing. Where others dreaded seeing something they wrote marked up in red, I delighted in the opportunity to discover new ways to shape my words and tell my stories. When I graduated from Florida State University, it was only natural that it should be with a degree in literature.

After college, I took the first job I was offered, and it wasn't long before I found ways to incorporate my love for language into my work. I started creating my own email templates and guides to help the customers I served. After a while, I realized that my love of customer service couldn't compete with my interest in marketing, and when a position in the marketing department opened, I jumped at the opportunity.

The next few years, I stopped thinking of myself as a reader and began identifying as an author. I read everything I could about real estate, SEO, websites, and marketing and used that knowledge to create fresh, relevant content for my audience. Over time, I became more adventurous and launched blog series, eBooks, infographics, and email bootcamps to expand my company's reach.

Now, I'm looking for my next opportunity.
